Farmers' Groups

Constitute Farmers' Groups:

1. Size: about 30 members/group, women and/or men
2. The members live in the same neighborhood
3. The groups are approved by the commune Farmers' Union
4. The groups elect their leader and their secretary
5. If for more than 3 consecutive months there is no group meeting, it is considered as dissolved.

   As of today there are 32 groups with a total membership of 1062.

Group Activities:

1. Monthly meeting
   1. The group decides about the topic of each meeting and training
   2. Thiện Chí provides technical support and the members discuss between themselves
   3. Documents are produced for the members to keep after the meeting: Pig raising (ppt, 3.2M ), Chicken raising (ppt, 2.5M), Cow raising (ppt, 338 KB), Rabbit raising (ppt, 876 KB), Diseases of pigs (51 KB), Diseases of chicken (363 KB).
2. Field visits, funded by the program
3. Pilot sites partially funded by the program
4. Expansion of successful models with the program technical assistance
5. Via the groups information of livestock is disseminated. Each group may set up a library with support from the program
6. Promote better varieties of animals, namely pigs. With the support of the para vets, the program proposes to the group members to raise pigs of a quality variety, according to the improved techniques. The program provides an incentive of 350.000đ/household/pig.
